As you all know from an earlier blog, Our black cat, Cotati was found in our garage on November 17 with a severed spine. The vet could do nothing for him and we had to put him to sleep. The sadness was unbearable and we brought him home and buried him under a tree.
Taken about 2 weeks before Cotati died.
Our orange tabby Mauser was found in our garage last Wednesday. December 17th - exactly 1 month to the day that her brother died. We raced her to the vet and we were sure a Coyote got ahold of her. Imagine our shock to find that someone had shot her. Someone shot our cat!
Taken the day before Mauser was shot.
My husband found these kittens in a field, abandoned by their mother. They were a month old, starving and very near death. We bottle fed them and loved and nurtured them and watched each of them grow to become beautiful healthy loving adult cats. They will be 2 years old in March. We live on 4 acres of land - surrounded by trees and nature. Deer, squirrel, birds, bunnies and more are all around us. The cats loved to chase mice, often bringing them to me YUCK. I now will not allow them to go outside.

Mauser went thru surgery and had her entire right leg removed to the shoulder. She is doing very well and learning to get around on 3 legs. The tragedy that has come to these cats in the last 2 months have taken their toll on us. Emotionally, mentally and financially. Thanks to the economy I am unemployed and we are barely surviving. Mausers surgery will take me years to pay off. Initially she was seen by the very competent staff at Carolina Vet Specialists here in South Charlotte. These people know their stuff and have every bit of technology available to them. But the average person can not afford to visit them with their pet once a year, let alone twice 30 days apart.
We transferred her to Long Animal Hospital on South Blvd. Please, if you need a vet - go visit these people. They are so loving, attentive and kind to YOU and your animal. Mausers surgery was to cost between 2400 and 4800 at Carolina Vet and they wanted 2k for a down payment. Yes, two thousand dollars. Long Animal Hospital took 50 dollars down and will allow us to make payments for as long as it takes. I'm not sure if they do this for all patients, or if this is due to our circumstances and dealing with the loss of Mausers brother a month ago but they are fantastic people. We are grateful and blessed to have found them.
They took awesome care of our furbaby, and I know they will take care of yours too!
To the person responsible for killing one of our cats and critically injuring the other - you need serious help. People on death row start out torturing small animals and move on to people. Get help now.
Our animals will never roam our land again. My teen no longer walks to the bus stop. I no longer feel safe in our secluded little area. Please people - watch your pets and children.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Happy Holidays.
